Love at Sunset: Forever Safe Romance Series Page 2
When I get a call that someone is downstairs, I put on my pink bunny slippers and do a quick check of my pajama shorts and tank top to make sure I’m presentable. I saw people in nothing but body paint today, so my outfit will definitely not be an issue.
Throwing my long locks in a messy bun, I rush to the lobby and look for someone carrying food only to be greeted by the last person I’m expecting. Standing with a bouquet of blue roses and a bottle of champagne is the bartender in snug jeans and a polo shirt showcasing toned arms. If I had doubts before, I have none now, not when her eyes are dripping with desire. Well, no time like the present to buckle up and confront her. Moving closer, not caring about the onlookers watching us like we’re a show, I tell her, “This is above and beyond prompt, you know, not that I don’t like it.” Her breathing gets shorter, her magnificent breasts rising and falling, I can feel myself get wetter. If only I could get her to talk. “Does this broody thing work for you? It’s quite impressive you made it all the way here when I’ve only heard you say about ten words.”
She’s tense and I start to worry the champagne will break under her hard grip. “I’m trying not to kiss you senseless. I shouldn’t be here, but I couldn’t wait.”
“If you came just to stare, you could’ve done it tomorrow.” She takes the remaining step separating us and wraps her arms around my waist, the flowers and bottle pressed against my back. When her mouth crashes down on mine, we fight for dominance and my tongue slips in, causing a burning fire to course through me like a shockwave. Breaking apart, I’m dizzy with need and she appears equally affected, her lips swollen and pink. I’m speechless at our connection, but I can’t miss the snickering from those witnessing our exchange. “I have pizza coming, if you’d like to come upstairs,” I offer as the delivery guy walks in.
“I’d love that, beautiful.” She finally smiles, and that’s when I see the dimples. Fuck me.
Chapter Four
Lacey
Roni leads the way and it’s like I’m a teenager again with sweaty palms and butterflies in the pit of my stomach, only this isn’t some silly crush. No, this is a woman’s desire. I don’t want a kiss for an innocent taste behind the bleachers, I want to feast on this succulent morsel. Of course, that would be easier to accomplish if my brain would start cooperating, something it hasn’t done since the moment I laid eyes on her. She’s tall with curves that put speedways to shame and following her gives me the chance to admire her ass. For a butt girl like myself, it’s a masterpiece, and I want to cup those round cheeks in my hand. I’ve had a relationship here and there, though it’s been about three years since my last, but I have never wanted a woman like this. All I can think of is this overwhelming need to sink my hands into her hair and kiss her until she’s screaming for more.
Still deep in thought, I don’t realize we’ve reached her door until I bump into her. I grab her hips to avoid falling, causing us to teeter until I secure my arm around her waist and straighten us out. Her luscious ass meets my front and the closeness is a shock to my system. I’ve never questioned how fate works and I won’t start now, so I accept her impact on me, embrace it.
“If you wanted to touch me, all you had to do was ask. First things first though, I’m starving,” she says with that panty-melting smile I can’t get enough of. If she knew half the stuff going through my head right now, she wouldn’t invite me in so easily. Stepping inside, it’s clear I’m in one of the better suites, making me wonder who she is. But that’s for another time as she’s sitting on the floor in front of a glass coffee table, a slice already in her hand, the other patting the spot next to her. I’ll want answers eventually, but I’ll settle for her company for now. When our thighs touch as I sit down, the same electricity from before courses through me once again.
“This quiet demeanor you’ve got going on is intriguing, but it doesn’t help me get to know you. But and this is the confusing part, there’s the side that has you coming here well past midnight. Seeing you waiting for me was sexy as hell, however, I need some verbal engagement. What’s your name?” She asks, placing a piece on a plate and giving it to me, followed by the sound of her popping open the champagne.
“Sorry, I’m usually not this quiet,” I tell her as she picks up the flowers and smells them. “I’m Lacey. So, Roni, is this your MO? Go to paradise destinations, mesmerize unassuming women and make them fall head over heels for you before you disappear like a thief in the night?” I want to know as I stare into eyes the color of the bluest ocean. She takes a bite, a deep moan leaving her lips and I achieve another level of insanity where she’s concerned because of it. I’m instantly jealous of melted cheese.
“Oh my god, this is delicious! Of course, I also haven’t eaten in almost twenty-four hours, so that could have something to do with it, but this is heaven. To answer your question, no, I’m actually on a mandatory vacation because I work way too much, according to my doctor. I simply decided if I’m doing this, then I’m going all out with a hot bartender, who looks damn good in those jeans, by the way, that has a mouth made for sin.” She may not be a traveling seductress, but her words have that power. Roni doesn’t beat around the bush, and hell if that isn’t making me want to get up close and personal with her on a flat surface.
“I’m not sure what to make of you either, to be honest,” I admit. “You have the face of an angel and the mouth of a she-devil, strolling into my bar looking like a million bucks, yet are just as beautiful in pajamas. Are you always this upfront?” A small blush covers her cheeks, telling me this is new for her, too, then she smiles, and I want to know what she’s thinking.
“Well, Lace, I learned a long time ago if I want something, I can’t be shy about it. Granted, that’s been a motto I’ve only used in the business world, but it’s served me well there, so why not apply it here? Had I not given you that note, would you be here right now?” Her smirk tells me she thinks she has me cornered, but I already know I would’ve found my way to her regardless. There’s this invisible pull between us, and as crazy as it seems, I had to follow it.
“You underestimate yourself. I can assure you I would’ve tried my damnedest to get your number if you hadn’t left it.” She turns a darker shade of pink and I want nothing more than to see how far down it goes. Yanking her closer by the back of her neck, I join our lips, the taste of the champagne still on hers, and slip my tongue inside. Our kiss soon turns desperate, our moans becoming their own music around us, and pull her onto my lap. Roni’s arms wrap around my neck as mine caress the soft skin her top barely covers. “I fucking want you,” I whisper. Her head falls back at my declaration, giving me access to her neck. I run my teeth down the length of it, her body breaking out in goosebumps, my fingers moving upward until I reach her pebbled nipples. Her hips buck and her pajama clad center rubs against mine, the friction so damn good I want her naked and under me. To hell with my rules. I’ll gladly break all of them for her. “Strip. I want to see every inch of you. I’m not leaving until I discover every spot that makes you wet, what touches make you come undone, and you’re hoarse from calling out my name.”
She jumps up, accepting my challenge, and I move to the couch, raising a curious brow as she heads toward her luggage. When she returns, a small speaker in hand, I don’t miss the mischievous look she sends my way as she connects her phone to it. Apparently, I’m getting a show, and just the thought has my panties sticking to me.
Body Says by Demi Lovato starts playing and her hips sway in time to the beat, her hands caressing her breasts. Walking closer, not realizing how close I am to losing control, her tongue peeks out and traces her bottom lip before she bites it. Reaching out for her, she slips one leg between mine and I struggle to catch my breath as she dances for me. Bending and dipping, her hips never stopping, she rubs her pussy on my thigh.
I fucking need more, but she stops me, shaking her finger no. What is she doing to me? She turns and backs up, my center now cradling her ass as the song changes to Earned It by t
he Weeknd, her body once more mimicking the rhythm. Unable to take anymore teasing, my hands are shaking as I lift her shirt over her head, paying attention to her breasts once it’s gone, pulling on her nipples and squeezing. When she bounces on my lap, I break, pulling her bottoms down only to discover bare skin instead of panties. With a twist, I have her under me, the weight of my body keeping her in place as I discard my shirt, then slowly kiss her, wanting to memorize the flavor, spicy and sweet just like her.
“I’m going to taste you now. Keep your hands above your head and give yourself to me.” She immediately obeys, and I move down here body as Skin by Rihanna comes on. We both groan as I shove her legs apart and my tongue makes contact. Her taste, and scent sends my senses into overdrive and I roughly grip her ass and bring her closer, driving deep into her heat.
I fuck her with it, then twirl it without any warning, her moans soon drowning out the music. It’s the best sound I’ve ever heard. “Fuck, that feels fucking amazing.” She’s drenched, allowing me to satisfy my craving. Curling my fingers, I locate her G spot, not stopping even as she screams my name in pleasure. A second orgasm rips through her as I quicken my pace and find my own release with just the taste of her on my tongue.
Chapter Five
Veronica
I know I’ve overslept when I see the sun shining through the shades. I’m so used to waking up when it’s still dark that it takes a moment to realize I’m on vacation. Reaching out, disappointment rushes through when I find the bed empty, causing me to sigh. I know this is supposed to be casual, but a small part wanted her to be here when I woke up. Twenty minutes later, I’m showered and applying my moisturizer when I hear my door open.
I wrap myself in a towel, hoping it’s a housekeeper. “I’m good until tomorrow,” I holler, wishing I’d put the Do Not Disturb sign out. “Honesty though, isn’t it just a bit early for room checks?” I’m already in a bad mood, and trying not to take it out on someone that’s just doing their job, but shouldn’t they do this later in the day? When they don’t reply, I head out only to be stopped short upon seeing Lacey in another pair of body-fitting bootcut jeans with a tank top, but it’s her cleavage capturing all my attention.
“I went home to freshen up and grabbed some breakfast on my way back. There’s bagels, cream cheese, and café con leche. The latter is a must among locals, so, as your official guide, I insist you try it. We’re going to hit all the tourist spots as well as some of my favorites. But you need to get dressed before I throw that idea out the window.” An anxiety I didn’t know I was carrying when I realized she’d left fades and I give her a big hug, telling myself it’s only because I don’t know anyone else here, making her a lifeline, of sorts. Yeah, that’s it. It has nothing to do with the fact she’s gorgeous, worked magic on my body, and brought me food. It’s just a little fun, nothing more, Roni. Remember that.
“Beautiful, I already told you, put some clothes on or I won’t give a shit if we never leave this room again,” she warns, her glazed eyes running over me with unmasked appraisal. If it were anyone else, I’d be offended, but I’ve quickly learned I have no boundaries where this woman is concerned.
“Give me a minute, well, twenty, but I’m taking the caffeine and a bagel with me. I hope you’ve chosen a local favorite for lunch; I’m dying to taste the cuisine.” Once I’m back in the bathroom, I go through my regular routine, but only put on lip gloss, wanting a more natural look, then brush my hair and run a hand through to tease it into my natural curls. I’d previously chosen my outfit for exploring and decide to stick with it, a pair of cutoff jean shorts that hug my curves and my favorite cropped tank.
When I rejoin Lacey, she’s lounging on the couch, arm covering her eyes with her legs crossed at the ankle and I take the opportunity to soak her in. A shiver hits as I remember what we did last night and I know I’ll need a repeat soon. Lacey is lean, but strong, and I got proof of that when she held me down. I rub my legs together at the memory, seeking relief. What is happening to me?
“Oh, wow. You make beach casual look fancy, I feel a bit underdressed,” she says after noticing me, her tongue moistening her bottom lip.
“Lace, let’s just say I’ve had more than one dirty thought about what you’re wearing,” I breathlessly confess. She stands and we move toward the door where I bring my nose to her neck and take in her scent. She smells like cherries and vanilla, with a hint of sun kissed skin. “Let’s go, dimples. I don’t want to have to fire you on your first day on the job.”
“I think I’m safe,” she says. “Where else will you find a tour guide that knows the city, will show you all the secrets spots, and willingly let you grope them?” The sly way that slipped out doesn’t help my panties situation under these shorts. When her hand travels up my ass ever so slowly before landing on the small of my back, I start to question reality, wondering if I dreamt her up.
I can’t help but laugh at the quad-cycle she got for us. After a couple minutes, I have the hang of it and we’re zooming around like pros. We visit the Hemingway house that has cats with the extra toes, take pictures with the kissing sailor statue then mimic it as someone takes ours, and venture into Margaritaville which less eccentric than I thought it’d be.
As promised, she takes me to El Siboney, a local restaurant that’s quaint and has a homey feel with the most delicious Cuban/Spanish Cuisine. Conversation is never dull and it feels as if we’ve known each other for years.
When the sun sets, we return to my hotel and I’m dreading her leaving. Cut it out, Veronica. As we park, she angles her body so our knees are touching, but I can’t find the courage to glance up, to let her see my vulnerability. “You aren’t going to look at me, Roni? Did you not enjoy yourself or is something else bothering you? Is it me?”
“You’re the most spectacular woman I’ve ever met,” I immediately deny, my eyes shooting to hers. Her dimples are on display and I realize the vixen tricked me.
“That’s good because I’ve been dying to do this all day…” her words fall silent as she pulls me in for a kiss that burns me from the inside out. When she stops and dismounts, I’m still trying to collect my thoughts after what we just did, and almost miss her hand out to help me down.
“I have to work tonight, but I’d like to see you again. Can I come by again in the morning? You’re welcome to come to the bar, but I didn’t want to overstep by suggesting it in case you wanted some time to yourself. But, um…if you go anywhere text me, please? So I know you’re safe, I mean.” Eyes glued to the ground, she kicks a small rock, her usual confidence gone. When she chances a look at me, I give her my biggest smile and pull her to me.
“If I leave this room, I promise to text. Have a good night at the bar and I’d love it if you came over.” Following a quick peck to her cheek, I head inside, my phone beeping as I reach the elevator.
Dimples: I miss you already. Don’t get into any trouble while I’m away. BTW, you looked gorgeous today.
The text warms my heart and a cheesy smile takes over my face as I read it.
Roni: Miss you, too. I’ll try, but no guarantees. And you weren’t too shabby yourself, heartbreaker.
Dimples: Don’t make me come spank your ass. And if anyone is breaking hearts it’s you.
In the confines of my room, I decide to watch a rerun of Friends and devour my leftovers from our lunch. As I’m downing the last of a miracle dessert called flan, I realize I can’t stop checking my phone. If I don’t occupy my mind, I’ll go insane. I’m trying not to come across as a woman that instantly gets attached because that’s not what this is. Right?
Katie would read me the riot act if I call to see how things are going, and the temporary phone they gave me is useless since it doesn’t have internet access, just in case I try to login to the company’s website. I’m ready to throw the damn thing against the wall in disgust when I get an alert and drop it in my hurry to read the text.
Like the cheeseball I seem to have become overnight, I melt at t
he picture she sent, tongue sticking out and the caption asking, Don’t I look sexy? with three laughing emojis after it.
Roni: Real sexy, dimples. Keep teasing me and there’ll be consequences. You don’t want me coming over there.
Dimples: Mi casa es tu casa. Well, mi bar es tu bar. Your fine ass is welcome here anytime.
The decision is made within seconds of her response and not even thirty minutes later, I’m peddling toward her. She doesn’t stand a chance.
Chapter Six
Lacey
The tourists are drunk off their rockers tonight which isn’t unusual, but Sundays aren’t normally this wild. Apparently, our patrons didn’t get the memo which means I’m swamped, not that it stops me from checking my phone yet again nor noticing the looks Robert and Renee are giving me when I do. She hasn’t responded to my last message and I’m hoping I didn’t scare her off.
“Who is that gorgeous chick?” I hear Jack, one of our regulars, ask. I disregard his comment, not in the mood for his constant jabber about a woman that isn’t my Roni. I’m pouring six shots when I hear him start hitting on her. “Hey, sweet cheeks. Let me buy you a drink?”
“First, call me that again and you’ll regret it. Second, I can buy my own damn drink. Third, has that ever actually worked?” My body stiffens and my blood runs cold at the sound of her voice.
I’m next to Jack in seconds, my tone biting as I say, “Get your ass out of here before I do it for you. Do you understand me?” His eyes widen and he nods in shock. I’m usually the calm one and Renee is the hard ass.
“I didn’t mean any disrespect, Lacey. I think it’s time for me to head home anyway,” he states, his gaze on me. Smart move on his part. A chuckle erupts the sound like a balm to my soul.
